Integration
Apple Health, both ways.
HealthApp reads what your phone and watch already record, and writes back what you log in the app — so the picture is the same wherever you look at it. Every category is a separate permission you grant, and every one can be withdrawn.
What HealthApp reads
Nothing is read until you grant that category in the Health app, and iOS asks per category rather than all at once.
- Movement
- Steps and step count, walking and running distance, flights climbed, active energy, resting energy, exercise time, stand time, and the daily activity summary.
- Heart
- Heart rate, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability.
- Sleep
- Sleep analysis — whatever your watch, ring or phone recorded.
- Workouts
- Workouts recorded by any app, so a run logged elsewhere still counts here.
- Body
- Weight, height, and body fat percentage.
- Vitals
- Blood pressure, blood oxygen, respiratory rate and body temperature, where iOS allows it.
- Nutrition
- Energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fibre and sugar — so a meal logged in another app joins your table.
- State of Mind
- Today’s daily-mood sample, shown beside your own check-in. Requires iOS 18 or later; on earlier versions this one simply does not appear.
What HealthApp writes back
Only what you logged in the app, and only into the categories you allowed.
- Workouts
- Anything you record or complete in HealthApp lands in Health as a workout.
- Weight
- Weight entries you log.
- Water
- Every cup, including the ones logged from your watch or by Siri.
- Mindful minutes
- Breathing sessions and resets.
- Meals
- Energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat and fibre from what you log.
- Daily mood
- Your check-in, written as a State of Mind sample. iOS 18 or later. Re-checking in on the same day replaces that day’s sample rather than adding a second one.
The two places it deliberately stops
- Sleep is read-only
- HealthApp reads sleep and never writes it. Whatever your watch or ring recorded stays the source of truth — an app that logs its own guess alongside real measurements makes the record worse, not better.
- Your own entries do not come back to you
- Meals HealthApp wrote into Health are excluded by source when it reads nutrition back, so a meal you logged once is never counted twice.
Denying a category does not degrade quietly. The feature that needed it stops, and says so — it does not fall back to an estimate and present it as a measurement.
iPad is the other limit worth naming: Apple Health is not available there at all, so the connection simply does not exist on iPad.
One record, wherever you look at it.
Free on every plan. No part of the Apple Health connection is behind Pro.
